Slurry Lake is inspired by a majority ruling for which Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion. In the case Coeur Alaska v. Southeast Alaska Conservation Council, the supreme court ruled in favor of Coeur Alaska determining that the disposal of slurry from area mines could be legally deposited at the bottom of a lake and it is there by not considered polluting a body of water -- a ruling devastating to the conservation of this state's and, in precedent, this country's bodies of water.
